Mediterranean moment.

After our Valentine's weekend in London, Jordan and I met up with our good friend Andrew, who joined us for a week of frolicking around southern Spain. One day in Valencia we were able to take a little dip in the Mediterranean...and by a dip, of course I mean a tiny toe dip followed by a lot of screaming and running back to the safety of dry land. Even though it was the Mediterranean, the beach itself was pretty unremarkable, I have to say. It was also a windy day, so the photo above is the result of frustration after being unable to take a remotely decent posed photo (hair was flying errywhere).

^ Feeling left out after the millions of photos I made him take of me. Reminds me of the jumping pictures he made me take during our foliage frolicking.

Andrew doesn't like photos. I took them anyway. ^

London in love.

Last month, my husband and I celebrated our first {married} Valentine's Day in London. For my first time in the city, I had big dreams of seeing literally everything, but jet lag combined with rainy weather meant we had to be a bit more selective with our sightseeing. Even so, we managed to pack the weekend with plenty of phone booth kissing, tea drinking, and city wandering for both of us. A few highlights:

^Because we are both 12 years old, apparently, we couldn't stop laughing at that sign.

^ So touristy. So okay with it.

^ At Westminster Cathedral. Being in this place literally brought tears to my eyes. After four years of studying art and a lifetime of fascination with English history, I couldn't get enough of this place. While Jordan sped through the audio tour and found himself a spot to nap, I carefully read every epigraph I could see, marveling at the history surrounding me. No photos were allowed inside the cathedral, which kind of broke my heart, but luckily we were allowed to take a few shots in the cloisters.

After a long day of wandering, our concierge snagged us a last-minute reservation at a romantic Indian restaurant. We were kind of goofy in love that night--how could we not be? Over our delicious meal, we traded things we loved about each how I love the way he is always so quick to compliment others (something I'm the worst at), and how he loves the way I help him see the beauty in every day things. (It was Valentine's Day, OKAY?) Just a few kind words from this guy is enough to make me melt into a puddle, and it happens often--like I said, he's good at saying (and meaning) all the nice things. My love. :)

To top off our Valentine's Day, we bought the most delicious white chocolate cake to share in our hotel room. It looks a little cheesy, but don't even get me started on how decadent it was. I maybe ate it for breakfast the next day, and the day after that.

The next evening, we saw London by night, kind of because we wanted to, but mostly because we managed to sleep through the majority of our prime sightseeing time (jetlag fail). I'm glad we did, though. It was just like, okay, London, we get it, you're gorgeous.

Then some daytime frolicking the next day...

^ I mean, really. #movingin

^ This is where the Queen goes on the weekends. Casual, nbd. #movinginheretoo

^ Patrollin'.

^ Having a mayja British moment. Ed Sheeran playing overhead, drinking tea, pinky out, wearing Burberry. Thank you, Park Lane Hotel.

^ ...and heart cookies, because the universe loves me.

And, of course, a quick visit to Notting Hill before we jetted to Spain for the next few days. In a rare display of self-restraint, I didn't even drag us into ONE antique store, and yet we still managed to miss our flight to Spain that afternoon after spending just a few too many minutes strolling along Portobello Road. But these colors though! So worth it.

Quick note about our hotel, in case anyone needs a recommendation: LOVED it. Lovely location, just across Green Park from Buckingham Palace, and the service was great. I'm more than a little biased (the thought of staying at a non-Starwood makes me queasy, I admit), but really, you can't go wrong with this place.

a pretty tune for you.

Artist :: Coldplay
Title :: Magic

This song is my spirit animal. Only heard 30 seconds of it before I bought it on iTunes. Could (and will) listen to this on repeat for days.

winter dates: spaceships and moonwalking.

So I try to avoid going to Smithsonian museums on the weekend, because it kind of just feels like going to work for me. But the Smithsonian's Udvar-Hazy Center was celebrating its 10th anniversary a few weekends ago AND my husband had never visited the museum, so it was a great excuse to visit for my first time in a while. I have to say, if any DC friends haven't yet been, it's well worth the trek to Chantilly. I'm not exactly a planes and spaceships kind of girl (paint some flowers on them and we'll talk), but the expansive space alone is pretty captivating, and it's a rare opportunity to be able to examine these massive machines up close.

And then there was dancing.

And more dancing.

Because apparently that's what we do at museums in this family.

And, of course, as with every good date, there was food at the end. And, of course, as with every good meal, I photographed it. I'm that person. But really, look at that pizza and admit that your mouth is watering. Hit up &pizza (<-actual restaurant name) on U Street. You're welcome.

a pretty VIDEO for you.

In a break from my traditional pretty tunes postings, happy to share this video by Wren. I alternate between sighing, squirming, and squealing through this vid, but mostly I think it's just really sweet. Enjoy!
