A December Day in Newport Beach

A perfect day, just me and chocolate and a bite to eat at Zinc Cafe in Corona del Mar, then picking out the perfect tree for our first Newport Beach Christmas.

I love these days with you.

Travel Pretty: Bergdorf Goodman Christmas windows...and a few more!

The last of my Fifth Avenue window picks this year, a hodge podge from up and down the avenue that struck my fancy, including the glittery, colorful Bergdorf Goodman windows...New York did not disappoint this year, as you can see. Until next year, NYC!

Travel Pretty: Saks Fifth Avenue Christmas Windows 2015

And we can't forget Saks Fifth Avenue's display this year, featuring tableaus of holiday opulence in glittery shades of white. My favorite was the three lounging divas, which may or may not remind me of me and my two our dreams. And doesn't that ice princess look like Gaga?? Stay tuned for the next post, featuring the last of my favorite Fifth Avenue holiday windows!

Travel Pretty: Tiffany & Co. Christmas Windows 2015

A last minute trip to New York with my sister last week to get into the holiday spirit (it's harder here in Newport Beach with the skies blue and the weather warm)... Stayed at the impeccable as always St. Regis just off Fifth Avenue, perfect for morning and nighttime strolls along the street's colorful Christmas window displays. Tiffany & Co., of course, was my favorite this year...elaborate, yet delicate vignettes featuring white winter wonderlands accented with the signature Tiffany Blue. ...And the pièce de résistance of the entire street itself, that last window, with that ring set against the tree, just inside those pearly gates...a true glimpse of holiday heaven.

Wedding Pretty: A Preppy Winter Dream in New England

It's a rare wedding photo that prompts an actual audible squeal....but this is that. These snaps of Sarah and Kiel's perfect Christmas tree farm wedding are the stuff of every preppy girl's dreams... What a beautiful venue, so simple and event ready! Right now we only have what the couple has shared on their Instagram accounts, and I'm dying for more, but these are enough for now.

Just as lovely as their photos, the bride's beautiful words summing up what every brand new wife feels in those dreamy moments just after her wedding:
We ran from the wedding. Kiel lifted me off my feet and carried me into our wagon. We drove away from the farm, the cheering family, the gorgeous ceremony. We were in complete silence. So many feeling and thoughts. At the exact same moment after 7 minutes of silence we both looked at each other and exclaimed "we're married!". Kiel hit the brakes. We sat on the side of road eyes full of tears and came to the realization of what just happened. Our lives were now one life and everything was more beautiful because of it.

Some extra inspiration...

Pie on the Beach

These days...there are sunsets like this, a husband like him, and apple pie so good we keep eating long after our stomachs ache from the sweet. These days are so, so good, just the two of us here in Newport Beach.

Tabletop Pretty: Pigeon Toe Ceramics

The weather in Newport Beach is just barely beginning to hint at fall, and I'm itching for just a few more degrees to drop in order to justify daily Mexican hot chocolate. Until then, pining over these beautiful ceramic mugs by Pigeon Toe, with their satin white finish and copper base, perfect for late autumn sips of chocolate, tea, or coffee. The collection also includes a serving bowl and gravy boat (any use for that this month hmm?) along with plates, all with the same soft white and copper finish. We won't be hosting Thanksgiving this year, yet I'm so tempted to throw a Friendsgiving before the holiday as an excuse to adorn my table with these elegant, graceful beauties...

Last fall I visited a centuries-old porcelain factory in Berlin (heaven for me, can you imagine??), where I was transfixed by the films they showed of pottery throwing. Something about watching potters at the wheel feels so soothing and calming, working more wonders on me than yoga ever could... So last but not least, below is a video showing Pigeon Toe's process, and someone let me know if they find this as hypnotizing as I do, please....

// Love this studio tour of Pigeon Toe with designer Lisa Jones!
// If you liked the white minimalism of the pieces above, these candles by Standard Wax will do it for you too...

Hotel Pretty: The Landsby in Solvang, CA

Photos from just a little while ago, when we escaped for our last summer getaway before the seasons changed, new jobs started, and life began once more. This time it was to Solvang, a Danish village just a few hours north of Los Angeles. Though the town held a quaint (albeit touristy) appeal, we spent most of our time relaxing at The Landsby, a newly remodeled boutique hotel at once luxurious and minimal. Full of quirky art, brass accents, and neutrals layered against a black and white palette, the Landsby's Scandinavian design aesthetic brings a much-needed modern vibe to the traditional town. Scroll through to see more of the perfect spot for a California weekend getaway!

And then click through for the loveliest modern granite and brass bathroom and reasons to smile at the bar...after the jump!

Hotel Pretty: Mohonk Mountain House

A little while back Jordan and I spent an amazing evening with his brothers at Mohonk Mountain House, just a few hours north of Manhattan. Mohonk is a fabulous resort dating back to Victorian times, and is still owned by the same family who opened it in the mid-1800s. The interior reminded me of a Victorian twist on a Wes Anderson film, but the real star of the show was the lake in the back of the resort. We all agreed it would be a wonderful place to return to with our own families someday. With a spa, live music, hiking, lawn games, lake activities, and--my personal favorite--a bonfire with s'mores, all set against this stunning natural landscape, Mohonk is perfectly idyllic. We'll definitely be back, Mohonk!
