Neuschwanstein Castle.

Now that I'm back in DC, it's bittersweet to go through photos from the last few months--thrilled to be home, but already missing what we've both come to consider our second honeymoon. With beautiful sites like these dotting Germany's countryside, I loved being in a place with such inspiring imagery. These photos are from our visit to the Neuschwanstein Castle, which most recognize as the inspiration for Disney's castle. Luckily for us visitors, the hills that once made for strategic defensive locations now serve as ideal photo ops, and we were thrilled to find the perfect spot overlooking the castle, in turn rising majestically above the valley below.

  1. These are the perfect spots to take this photos! Did you find them on your own, or were you guided because I want to take these exact pictures when I go there. So breath taking....I can't even imagine how it felt to see it in person. AHH...can't wait to go there for myself. Thanks for the inspiration on where to go and what to see next!

Can you imagine that being your castle......???! Was it you that told me, it still had living royals that still use it..or live in it?? Or is it another castle? Did you get to go inside?

    1. There are signs for different viewpoints that you can hike to! There's a bridge that EVERYONE stops on to take pictures, but if you press through the crowd, over the bridge, and further up the hill, you can get this great view! We actually arrived too late to see the interior, but the exterior was what I was most interested in anyway. I think I've mentioned in a couple other posts that those castles are still lived in, but I'm not sure about this one, since we didn't take the official tour. Hope you get to see it soon!
