Hotel Pretty: One night at the Chateau du Boisrenault.

A new happy place, where I hope to return again and again...the Chateau du Boisrenault, in the Loire Valley, just a picturesque countryside drive south of Paris. Once a family home, now a B&B, the chateau was full of dusty charm and quirk, both particularly embodied in our host, the lovely Florence. Our sweet little room was the perfect match for my hungry eyes, which met with fanciful vignettes wherever they swept...yellow tufted velvet, dried roses on the mantel, hand-painted flowers on the armoire, and can you even handle that canopy bed...

We had grand plans to rise early and continue on our travels, but instead decided to spend a leisurely morning exploring the rooms, so charmed were we by the 19th century chateau. Petit déjeuner awaited us when we arrived downstairs, with a basket of bread and hot chocolate for two. And, of course, entirely delighted by a vase of flowers that reminded me of a Dutch still life...

And then just a few more of the exterior...the view overlooking the green field beyond, and those perfect pastel roses...

See all of our chateau visits here.

  1. Having just got married last week, I was eager to tell everyone about this place. We had the perfect wedding, thanks to the amazing service at banquet halls in Miami. Most places don’t care and charge you for a lot of the things that guys at this place were willing to help us out with.
